240 Series FAQ

  1. Can you print bar coding and text on the same label?

    No, the 240SE Series only allows you to print one or the other. However, if this is a feature you need, the K2500 can do this.

  2. How do you clean a machine?

    You clean the print head with rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip. To locate the print head, take out your tape cartridge and turn the locking knob as if the cartridge were in. As you turn the locking knob, you will see the print head move. You clean the side of the print head that is closest to the silver pin.

  3. How do you use density?

    Density can be used to improve your quality of print. In order to increase the density, press ALT F3. Use the right and left arrows to increase or decrease density. (Older versions of the 240 Series may have a control dial on the left of the machine. If this is the case, turn the dial toward the "+" sign to increase density and toward the "-" sign to decrease density.

  4. How do you print vertically?

    Make sure that SIZE (F3) is set to BOTH, SIZE 1. If you try to print vertically with SIZE 2 you may get a text too tall prompt. Press STYLE (F4) until vertical is displayed. Press "Y" for yes and hit space or enter. Type text and print. Additional vertical font cards are available in 16, 24 and 30 pt.

  5. What is "set line length" and how do you use it?*

    This feature is available with the 240SE. Line length sets a specific label length from 0-6 inches. It can be used to set a specific label length or to justify a single line label.

    In order to set label length: press ALT SHIFT F3 and set line length from 0-6 inches. You must enter 2 digits for each line length. For example, if you want to set line length at 6 inches you would enter "60".

  6. How do you justify ?

    This feature is available with the 240 SE. In order to justify your label: select the number of lines you need for the label (ALT F4). Press ALT F1 and scroll (using the right and left arrows) to Left, Right or Center. Choose one, press enter. (This will justify all lines on your label).

    If you are justifying a single line label on a 240SE. Set line length (ALT SHIFT F3) from 0-6 inches. You must enter 2 digits for each line length. For example, if you want to set line length at 6" you would enter "60". Press ALT F1 and scroll (using the right and left arrows) to Left, Right, or Center.

  7. How do you print multi-line labels?

    This feature is available with the 240SE. To print multi-line labels: press ALT F4 until the number of lines you want to print are displayed, press space or enter. Type your text (press enter to go to the next line in your label) and print.

  8. How do you use the accent symbols?

    The accent symbols are located underneath the A, S, D, F, and G keys (the symbols are blue). Accent symbols can be put over vowels only. In order to select an accent symbol: press ALT and the accent symbol that you want. Release the ALT key and type in the vowel that you want the accent over.

    For example, if you want to put a tilde ~ over an "E": press ALT "A" (because the tilde is located beneath the "A" on the keyboard), then type the vowel that you want the accent over, in this case "e".

  9. How do you use sequencing ?

    In order to sequence: press ALT F5. Choose either A (for Alpha) or N (for Numeric). (You can't choose both). At "Start char" enter the number or letter you want the sequence to begin with. At "End char" enter the number or letter you want the sequence to end with. At "Incr #" enter the increment number you want to sequence by. An omega symbol should appear in the text box. Press "print" to print the sequence.

  10. When you repeat labels, can you remove the cut line?

    No, the cut line can not be removed.
