K3000-PC Series FAQ's
- When trying to install
the drivers for the labeler, setup stops and asks for the Windows
installation disk?
A common problem loading
the K3000-PC drivers into Windows is that the setup program
can not find the three common Windows files (ICONLIB.DLL,
UNIDRV.DLL, and UNIDRV.HLP). If this happens, setup will ask
for you to place your Windows CD into the CD-ROM where it
can find and install the files its needs to complete the setup.
Another option is to browse your C:drive, find c:\windows\options\cabs
(if you placed the cabs in this location) and have setup load
the files from this location. Once this is done, setup will
be completed.
NOTE: The same scenario can occur in either Windows 95
or Windows 98.
- The manuals for the labeler
and the software were not included in the box with the printer?
Please note that the
manuals for both are in PDF format on the installation CD
that came with your labeler. Simply browse the installation
CD and you will find a folder called MANUALS, here you will
find users manuals for the Kroy Label Designer Software and
your Kroy Labeler.
- I noticed that there
is both a driver and software upgrade available for the K3000-PC,
but there are two options for downloads FTP and HTTP, which
one should I use?
By using FTP, you
can run the installation of files from our website without
having to download them first to a folder on your computer
Use HTTP to transfer the files into a download folder on your
computer for installation at a later time.
- The text on the labels
being printer is not clear, what can I do to remedy this?
In your printer folder
right click on the icon for the K3000-PC, then click on the
properties and go to the control tab. On the control tab you
will find the density setting you can increase or decrease
the density as needed to compensate for faint or blurry looking
text.
NOTE: This situation may also be a result of a dirty print
head. We recommend that the printhead be cleaned regularly
with the recommended Kroy thermal printhead cleaning kit available
on line at be clicking here.
- The cable that was included
with the K3000-PC has two connections at one end, which one
do I connect to my computer, or do I use both?
These connections
are both SERIAL connections although the larger one looks
similar to a PARALLEL connector, they are both SERIAL connectors.
Connect to the available SERIAL port with whichever cable
ends fits appropriately.
- The installation of the
upgrade driver and label software into my Windows NT workstation
seemed to go correctly, but when I try to print, I get the following
error message "cannot print to specified device the parameters"?
You need to edit out
of the registry the old Kroy files before adding the new files.
Remember to reboot your computer after editing the old files
and installing the new files
NOTE: It is also required that you reboot after upgrading
the drivers and software when using Windows 95/98 registry
and then install the new files if you encounter this error
message.
